I was just trying out the mythbackup and mythrestore commands (from the GUI) and I broke my DB. I did a backup, and then a restore after the backup completed, just to see how it would work. After that, my frontend would start anymore...it would just complain that it was unable to update my database schema.

I tried doing a myisamchk *.MYI using cesman's sticky note, but there didn't appear to be any broken table. To make a long story short, I'm now doing the R5V7 autoupgrade again because of this.

My question is...what did I do wrong? I understand that if I triggered a restore with an old backup, things could get screwy...but to run a backup and then run a restore 5 seconds later should not change anything.

I wanted to start backing up my db before each major change to my Knoppmyth, so that I can restore if I have a problem...but now I'm afraid to ever trigger a restore again, knowing that even a recent backup can break the database.
