Just wondering what was the smallest size hdd i can get away with installing knoppmyth on. No i'm not crazy I have a 300GB hdd already in my backend that im going to use. It has alot of stuff on it that i dont feel like backing up right now and I heard that knoppmyth wipes out the entire hdd. So what is the bare minimum hdd space on a seperate old hdd. 2GB? More? Thanks for your help

If you're doing an upgrade it'll leave the entire /myth directory structure even though it warns that it will delete everything. So there's not need to back up in that case. 2 Gig would be fine for the OS thought, you would need do an autoinstall then move /myth somewhere else and mount it, preferrably with NFS as its faster than SMB and supports files over 2 Gig.

On an upgrade, it warns that it will wipe all of /dev/hda1 not the entire drive... I'd recommend no less than a 3 GB drive.

Ok what about a fresh install, see I have just been streaming the media I have on the drive to xbmc, but now I want to install myth on it. So i'm assuming i'd either need to back it up or get a small drive.
