I'm usually quite good at picking our issues from looking at logs, but I'm not quite sure why mythburn is failing here.

Suggestion?

Thanks

I just did a clean install of R5B7. I wiped everything.

Mythburn still gives this output.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

I am now able to get past the error above. This is what I did:

apt-get install dvdauthor imagemagick ffmpeg

Now I'm getting some different ERRORs and WARNs. When I watch the DVD, none of the video snapshots show up in the menu. I'm assuming that's what the " ***ERROR*** There was a problem extracting image so using dummy instead", message below is about. What can I do to fix it?

Thanks

EtherNut

I received the same **ERROR** message after recompiling ffmpeg to use to myth2ipod. I wasn't able to find a solution other than reinstalling KnoppMyth... however, if MythBurn isn't working on a fresh install for you, I'm not sure what to tell you...

It sure wasnt working after a fresh install. But after I "apt-get install ffmpeg" it completes the .ISO (with errors above). The only thing I see wrong is the screen shots on the dvd menu dont work. Where you'd normally see images of the show in the menu, they are just blank. Would love to figure that one out. What program is responisble for stripping screenshots from the MPEG video during the creation process?

Anyone have a clue why I get this error when creating the DVD menus in Mythburn?

Extracting thumbnail image from time frame 00:13:18.15-00:13:18.16
***ERROR*** There was a problem extracting image so using dummy instead ***ERROR***

Thanks.. This is driving me crazy... :?

I've been working on this too, so far without any luck. It seems that transcode is used to extract thumbnails with the following command:

transcode -q 0 -i "$2" ${blueface} ${flip_thumbnails} -x auto,null -y jpg,null -o $3 -Z $imagesize --progress_off --nav_seek ${2}.tcindex -c $cut 2>/dev/null

Someone on this board (I can't find the thread) suggested changing the "auto" to "vob" but that had no affect. I have to burn another DVD this morning so I'll get rid of the /dev/null and change it to thumbnail.log or something like that, and I'll post my results here.

Ok, now we're getting somewhere:

Code:
Extracting thumbnail image from time frame 5994-5995
transcode v0.6.14 (C) 2001-2003 Thomas Oestreich, 2003-2004 T. Bitterberg
[transcode] warning : unused command line parameter detected (18/19)
[transcode] warning : argc[18]=2 (unused)
tc_memcpy: using mmxext for memcpy
tcdecode: error while loading shared libraries: libavcodec.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
(demuxer.c) write program stream packet: Broken pipe
***ERROR*** There was a problem extracting image so using dummy instead ***ERROR***

Now I need to figure out 1) if libavcodec is really missing and 2) how I can install it and/or make tcdecode see it.

Ok, here's what I've done so far:

[EDIT]pre-1.: changed the transcode line in extractthumbnail.sh to remove the "2>/dev/null" introdiced in the last CVS version of mythburn. This will allow the transcode output to be seen in the mythburn log.[/EDIT]

1. Update /etc/apt/sources.list with the marillat repository and then run
Code:
apt-get update

as root. Note that the proper link is now
Code:
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org sarge main

as seen on the latest MythTVBurn_Scripts_HowTo

2. Install latest version of transcode:
Code:
apt-get install transcode

This installs and upgrades other packages, but since apt-get has no history or log file I can't post everything that was changed.

3. Install latest version of mjpegtools with
Code:
apt-get install mjpegtools

This will update mplex to the latest version, which is needed because the transcode upgrade already upgraded libmplex.

4. Fix the errors I caused by upgrading transcode. Installing the new version of transcode changed it from /usr/local/bin to /usr/bin. I'm sure there's a way to specify a prefix with apt-get, but I didn't. This generally doesn't cause problems as the scripts call most programs with "programname." However, in mythburn.conf there's a path given for tcrequant and it's called via "$tcrequantpath/tcrequant." Changing the appropriate line in mythburn.conf from "/usr/local/bin" to just "/usr/bin" seems to have fixed this problem.

I'm in the middle of making a DVD right now and will report back with the results.

Yay! After doing all of the above, here are the lines from the thumbnail section of the log:
Code:
Extracting thumbnail image from time frame 5994-5995
libdvdread: Encrypted DVD support unavailable.
************************************************
**                                            **

**  for more information.                     **
**                                            **
************************************************
libdvdread: Can't open file VIDEO_TS.IFO.
tc_memcpy: using sse for memcpy
[decode_mpeg2.c] libmpeg2 0.4.0b loop decoder
[decode_mpeg2.c] libmpeg2 acceleration: 3dnow
failed to write Y plane of frame(demuxer.c) write program stream packet: Broken pipe

But it has working thumbnails!

Now I'm off to see if I can really muck everything up by upgrading to SVN and MythArchive.

I just upgraded to R5C7 to take advantage of some of the new features. The upgrade went real smooth! Kudos to the KM team.

The only issue I have is that Mythburn is broken again. The weird thing is, the error that I have now is seemingly the same error as the one I received at the top of this post when I upgraded from A26 to R5B7.

My fix for it in the last version was (as indicated in my post above) to do an apt-get install on a few packages. That doesn't work now, the apt-get install using the stable repository says I'm already at the current version. The apt-get install using the repository that DoomedTX mentions, fails with dependency errors.

Ofcourse I'd like to get this fixed and that is my first object here. But my questions are these. Is mythburn broken by default on B7 and C7? I'm certain that they are not, but why in the world does an upgrade put me back at square one with this issue? I don't quite understand it. What would be hanging around on my system that would be causing this?

Help! :D

I am having what looks to be the same problem with mythburn. After reading 15 of the more recent threads, this seemed to be the most relevant to my problem (though this http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8478 seems to be identical to me). Using R5C1 atm until I get these shows on DVD.

"Warning can't rewind WAV file. File-format isn't fully conform now. "

Immediately after this, Mythburn gives up. Log file below. My comments are in bold.
