A few suggestions for consideration for the next release, as I've just spent some considerable time installing and reinstalling and documenting along the way.

-USB 2.0/USB HD support loaded by default (right now I think it defaults to 1.1, I had to load the kernel module to get full speed)

-Prompt to activate NTP during initial setup, as an alternate to the system clock only, put the config in place

-Prompt to activate Samba by default, with the username/password the same as the user created during the initital install. By default share the recordings, video, music and image directories as "Myth$Directory".

-Include the alternate MythLink script that appends .MPG to the files for people with PVR 250s who want to be able to look in "/myth/pretty/" and just click to watch from other PCs

-Include a copy of Jarod's .lircrc config for the hauppauge grey remote (based on the one I did ages ago :)) found here: http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/lircrc-haupgrey.txt

Just a few thoughts on things I needed to do once I had it up. Hope that helps.

-Jeff

Sorry... Nothing further is going into R4V3.

it would probably be hard to determine if a mb supports 2.0 so it is probably safest to leave this alone, although a sticky post might be in order if more people need usb2.0 support.

I for one would like all traces of ntp to be gone. Every install I've ever done it has been active on install via the ntp-simple script in cron.daily which I have to remove or it corrects the time back and all my shows are off, because none of the shows here start by official time. I don't know what they sync their clocks by but it's about 3 min off.

this might not be a bad idea, but I think the theory is keep as few services running by default as possible and allow people to turn on the ones they need. the samba share you suggest is in place and just not turned on by default. To turn it on only takes one command.

not sure what to say about this one, I've never looked into that script, but I've heard it's nice.

what's wrong with the lircrc that is included?
