It appears to be part of the script, but I did a manual restart just to be sure. Still the same thing. Another goofy thing... I reran the "Toggle" to re-secure it, and Firefox won't prompt for credentials now. I checked the httpd.conf and all the lines that needed to be uncommented were (as best I could tell... Allow Override -> Require). I guess I'll just have to play with it in the morning... or at least later on this morning. Heheh...

Ok, another clean reload later and the test is complete. If password security is on, then IE no workie, off... no problems. So back to the drawing board. I have since found several articles about IE not being 'digest' compatible. I'm going to try to mess with the old password protect howto and see if I can get it working with the current MythWeb, unless someone can come right out and tell me there's no possible way to make it work that is. I'll post the results.

Thanks everyone,
Gonz

It appears that as of IE7 RC1, Digest authentication is fixed. I guess maybe the best answer is just to tough it out until then.

Thanks all,
Gonz

In case anyone wants to switch, I found the following which had the answer to my question about setting up BasicAuth with 19.x:

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9239&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=mythweb+digest&start=15

The answer was to setup BasicAuth as in the Wiki, and then:

Quote:
edit /etc/apache/modules.conf and comment out the lines with pam_auth_module and digest_auth_module

Life is good again. :D
