Not sure if this is the right place to ask, I need to recompile the kernel to add support for an old capture card. The card is an LR37, a Zoran ZR36120 based card with a SAA7110 encoder. I think this is the same as a Lifeview Flyvideo LR26 without a TV tuner (not the Flyvideo II, that has a bt878).

Support for the ZR36120 has been broken since the 2.6.0 kernel, I found a patch produced by Joe Feise http://www.feise.com/~jfeise/Downloads/zr36120/ which seems to be what I need.

I am using R5D1, & since there is no diff for the 2.6.17 kernel, I plan to upgrade to 2.6.18.3.

Is this the best way to go about getting the card working?

I can't get R5E50 working, it crashes a few minutes after the frontend starts, R5D1 is stable , I can work with this release.
