Hello,

I am running R5E50 and had everything running smoothly, including using my ATI remote via lirc. Since I got a second tuner I decided to play with the PIP functions. I decided to change the mapping on one of the buttons to 'N' to switch the PIP screens. I edited the .lircrc file to reflect that change and restarted lirc (/etc/init.d/lirc restart). My remote stopped working. So I tried exiting the FE, restarting lirc and starting the FE. Still no remote.

After doing some testing I see the lircd stopps running as soon as any program tries to access the remote. So, I:

1) start lirc
2) wait any length of time
3) check via ps to verify that it is running
4) run irw (or restart the FE)
5) check via PS and see that lircd is no longer running

I have tried the lirc-reconfig.sh to get things back to the way they were, but still nothing. I edited the .lircrc to put it back, but lircd still stops running as soon as I start something that would check the remote. I've restarted X as well as the whole PC.

Is there any log that shows why lircd stops?

Thanks,

Well, I did a bunch more searching all over and found a few steps to try. After following some different suggestions I changed the lirc.conf to point to /dev/lirc0 and now all is working again.
