Hi everyone, I have recently connected OTA HD and noticed that the picture is jumpy(up and down). If I hit the on-screen menu (while watching live tv) and change the "video scan" to progressive, the issue is resolved. I haven't tried too much tweaking as of yet - partly because there are so many combinations (part of my question below).

Related info: R5E50, graphics card is an NV GFX5200, 2x hd5500 and 2x pvr250s, xorg modeline is set for 1920 x 1080 x 60p, screen hooked up with vga and accepts 1080p, playback option in tv settings has interlaced checked, with Bob and no Xvmc.

Up until recently, I was only using the PVR250s and the setup worked well - with the exception that when I watch hockey (fast motion), I would enable Xvmc.

A couple of questions:

1) Is there a way to set the default "video scan" setting to progressive? - every time I change a channel I have to reset it.

2) Can someone explain the video stack to me for the DVB cards? I can now count 3 different places where I can choose to interlace or not - xorg.conf, tvsettings/playback, on screen "video-scan". If any of these don't match (like my current setup) am I doing useless conversions? Should I be gearing everything towards interlaced since most of the content arrives in this format?

If the incoming video is interlaced, using progressive will probably have some noticeable downsides.

I had problems with bob bouncing when I used some of the new screen settings in myth.20 for overscan. I fixed it by using one of the other deinterlacers. I forget which one I used at the moment, but you can just try the others to see which one looks best.
