Hi all,

Can somebody help me with installing(patching for) IMQ in r5e50 ?.
I'm not so good with linux kernel patching and my wife will kill me when I broke something in my beautifully running r5e50.

million thanx in advance

Details, details, details. In this case, lack there of. What is IMQ? Got a link to the patch? What exactly do you need help with? If the patch failing? Is the kernel not compiling?

Cecil,

Sorry for lacking details. My mistake !

IMQ=intermediate queuing device
The IMQ device has common use: Ingress shaping, using egress qdiscs
With IMQ you can use these egress qdiscs to shape igress traffic, while retaining all the power of these egress qdiscs.
By this I can dynamically assign bandwitch for more important application (streaming) and take it from less important (like p2p).

My setup details:
Main server (FB+BE): KM r5e50, p5p800 MB, Intel D325, 512M, 2xPVR250, GF5200, 2x320G WDC, Lascalla11B case.
FE: minimyth0.20-21, Diskless Epia10K + DVD-ROM

Running like CHARM (no single issue) and stable as should be (weeks uptime - reduced only by continues extension of functionality)

Now my FB+BE does:
-mythtv FB+BE
-boot server for diskless FE
-LAN file server
-firewall with NAT & shaping
-VoIP SIP proxy for home voice network
-p2p host

Unfortunately my ISP for my downstream does not shaping so huge p2p can block internet radio streams. (for upstream I already setup shaping for VoIP QoS - working like charm)
Good solution seems to use IMQ - but for this I need (AFAIK):
-get IMQ patch for kernel version used by r5e50
-get r5e50 kernel sources
-compile

Q is:
-where can I find IMQ patch & kernel sources
-what fall-down (rollbak) scenario should I use for case when new compiled kernel fails/will be unstable/errant

thx
