I think the beauty of KnoppMyth is its simplicity and purity.

I originally started on .8 Myth on RH9 and it took a LONG time to get it going. Even with Jarod's excellent docs, its a ton of work today.

I had my Myth system up and running with KnoppMyth in less than 60 minutes, including some futzing to allow for my local cableco and the work I had to do to get listings (compiling them from different cablecos as we are not on Zap2It).

KnoppMyth is for Myth. If you want a general system, don't use KnoppMyth, try Jarod Wilson's excellent docs on how to install Myth on a RH Fedora system instead.

Small is beautiful.

The main improvements I'd like to see in the next release are updated versions of software (e.g. - xmltv), drivers and firmware (e.g. - pvr250_18_22037.exe), and hardware monitoring (lm_sensors).

IMO - Anything that isn't directly related to being a better PVR, easier set up, or managing the machine, is excess baggage which you can always apt-get for yourself.

OK, so I snuck lm_sensors in there... We've had our first real warm days of spring here in Boston and I'm starting to think about thermal issues, as apparently is the SN41G2, which was reving it's fan all last night...
With people using so many SFF machines it's a real concern.

Small and simple is the key from an apps perspective, since they are easy to add later.

However, I think adding functionality to the kernel is a good goal. Things like lm_sensors and ALSA can be real stumbling blocks for Linux newbies. Having these kind of features "built in" would be great!

lm_sensor is planned for the next major release(R5), ALSA is already included.

It would be kinda nice to install nano by default. some people don't vi and everyone needs to edit text at one point or another. everything else is fine tho.
