OK, I have nuvexport working by downloading the latest version (as per a previous message), but it seems to be stuck on everything being 4:3 aspect ratio. By this I mean, when I choose a show, it lists it as being 4:3, even though it is a 16:9 file recorded by a DVB-T card and everything is 16:9 from it.

Also, I find, inside the various *.pm files of ffmpeg, such as DVD.pm, sections with code like this



So even if it believed in the source file being 16:9, it would still force it to 4:3. I altered this particular example to 1.7777 instead of 1.3333 and the output file is back to 16:9 like it should be.

Now, I knew this trick from ages ago (you'll probably find references to it on this board) and I am totally surprised to find nothing has ever been fixed.

I am not a programmer, but I wonder if any of the developers of nuvexport and ffmpeg might be able to fix these things?

That depends on the channel, if you are in the UK, channels like UKTV History are 4:3, also depending the programming channels that do broadcast in 16:9, still broadcast some programmes in 4:3.

I will double check, but there is no doubt these files are 16:9. It is obvious because when they are forced to 4:3, everything is tall and skinny.
