When I boot the computer up, I get a window that asks for my password. Then, it proceeds to go into the setup menu. Pressing Alt-M to get to the frontend, I get a list of folder icons of what's on the hard drive. Then pressing esc gets me into the frontend. Any ideas of what could be causing this?

It sounds like you never completed the phase 2 setup. First go all the way through that, then check to make sure that the semaphore files are being cleared.

I'm actually not going to tell you the names of those files right now because I suspect that'll just get you in worse trouble. You're already jumping the fence and going through the pasture with the bull. If these aren't getting cleared when the setup is completed there's obviously something else wrong with you system.

I strongly recommend testing the install CD at the very least. You may also want to refetch the ISO image from another mirror, checking the md5sum against the one in Cecil's announcement, burn a new CD on different media at a slower speed, and check _that_ before reinstalling with it. I still remember one of the tester/developers who shall remain nameless having horrible mysterious problems which turned out to be from a rewritable CD that had gone bad.

Thanks. I had originally had everything up and working just fine, and I think I completed everything (although I'm not sure what the phase 2 is that you refer to). However, my PVR-250 card was dead and needed to replace it with a PVR-150. I ran through the setup again, but clearly that wasn't enough. Maybe I'll just reinstall it all from scratch.

See the R5F1 hints. This labels the installation phases for convenient reference. Phase 2 setup is what happens after you take the CD out and reboot. The hints are recommended reading for any install or upgrade.
