Does anyone know if it's possible to program a Hauppauge silver remote (A415-HPG) to turn my TV on/off and maybe even control the volume on my surround receiver? I'm having a hard time finding any instructions or codes for it, but I figure those buttons aren't on the remote for nothing.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Damn. It would be so nice to have one remote to control all of the functions I actually use, no more no less. Oh well. Thanks for the reply.

These do everything you probably need. I use it for my PVR-250 (KnoppMyth), TV, DVD, VCR, Stereo system, toaster :-P ...it has it all.

Logitech Harmony 659
Logitech Harmony 670

It's not the cheapest remote for sure and it requires some time connected to your PC to configure, but I found it to be the best for the price. I've seen the price as low as $50 so..keep an eye out.

Take a look at the Harmony remotes. We have 3, can't imagine life without them! http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/remot ... /&cl=us,en Don't let the MSRP throw you, they can usually be found for much less...

What PVR card to you have? The A415-HPG is bundled with the PVR-150 which has an IR blaster. Some creative scripting of the blaster and lirc can make it do anything.

I use the One-For-All URC-8820B00. It comes out of the box knowing about the Hauppauge remote and simulates it well. It also knows about virtually all TV's and lots of other equipment. It's about $20. Harmony is nice...if you're a rich guy.

The only downside of the "all for 1" removes is that they have very limited memory for learning. If you need to learn more than 20-30 buttons, they run out of memory....

I recently purchased a Logitech Harmony 676 for $49 from Amazon, but I see they are back up to $119. They do go on sale periodically...
