On my R5F1 install, I was very pleased with the perfect operation of everything. The machine worked perfectly until: Tonight when I tried to watch a video.

When I tried to watch a video or a recorded program, I just got a blue screen on my TV. I figured a reboot would fix it, but then I just got a green screen. Normally when I boot the machine, the PVR-350 flashes a green screen for just a second...Now it stays and won't go away. Also, the computer won't boot.

Now I thought that the capture card got hosed somehow, so I replaced it with an identical card that I bought to eventually put in a box in my bedroom. 2 different cards in 3 different PCI slots, same problem.

Next I figured that instead of monkeying around with getting SchedulesDirect working with R5F1 (on top of my other problems) I would just hose the machine and start over with R5F27. Bad idea.

I put in the CD and entered 'tv' at the KnoppMyth screen as usual, but once the PVR-350 initializes, I get the same green screen. Also, the installer doesn't get past "formatting hda for ext3" or whatever.

Is my whole machine just hosed? It's an old E-Machines so I'm not going to replace the motherboard.

Can anyone think of what might be causing this?

Are you trying to install while the 350 is connected to the TV and using the TV as a monitor? You might want to use a computer monitor for the upgrade and then worry about getting the 350 tvout to work after you upgrade.

No, I am using a VGA monitor during the install. That's the way I've always done it since after the first reboot it changes over to TV-out anyway.

At what point during the install does it freeze up on you?

Your computer monitor screen is turning green during the install? What are you using as a video card?

Did you verify the cd?
