I just want to confirm if there are still plans to release a version of KnoppMyth based on the 0.20 MythTV release? I'm not asking about a timeline, because we all know where that will get a person. I'm just making sure it wasn't shelved in favor of manually upgrading the components.

Hi all,

I am on R5D1... did the upgrade as on page 1 last night. Could someone please take a peek at this and tell me if everything turned out ok? I just noticed I got 5 of those "Prior errors apply" lines instead of the 2 or 3 that were mentioned.

Seems to work ok... still don't have closed-captioning and lost my XM radio option... don't know if anything else has changed. Top went from 9% to 12%... I'm running a 4800x2 though...

I've been afraid of doing this for fear of hosing my system, but it was as smooth as a baby's bottom! I had an FTP time out error on Get 2, but I just redid the apt-get install command. No worries! :D

Im having problems after recently upgrading my laptop and xbox from version 0.19 to 0.20 they appear to be running mythtv 0.20.1 http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Release_Notes_-_0.20.1which of course has a protocal change. Hos can i upgrade my 0.20 install on knoppmyth to 0.20.1 any chance of cecil updating the packages? As id prefer not to compile from source.

I am currently running R5D1 as my backend and xbmc mythtv 0.19.1 as my frontend.

Damn I am glad i read your post. I was just about to upgrade my backend to 0.20... would have broken everything

I upgraded from R5C7 to R5D1 today. Then I followed the instructions from page 1, and after some re-work it's pretty much where it was with 0.19, plus some cool new .20 features like Internet Stream.

However, I then tried setting up my separate front-end (Ubuntu Laptop). The whole reason I upgraded the backend was because the Ubuntu packages are .20 now, and I figured upgrading the backend was the right thing to do, rather than use an outdated front-end.

However, I still get a protocol mismatch, it's just 30 (backend) versus 31 (frontend) instead of what it was (26 versus 31). How do I go about upgrading the backend to whatever version has protocol version 31? I assume if there's no packages made, I'll have to rebuild from source? Is this koscher with a KnoppMyth install or does it ruin my upgrade path for when the next release comes out?

No, it should not ruin upgrading when the next release is ready.

After upgrading I can no longer listen to music, or view images correctly (can't exit).

Other than that I'm doing pretty well on 0.20. I just set up a new menu item to use Xine for my music player for CD and my MP3s.

Arrrggh, why me.
So I am trying to upgrade and on the apt-get part the transfer keeps erroring out. The transfer gets to 100%, sits for a minute, then says this:

Err ftp://knoppmyth.net ./ mythtv 0.20-8
Connection timeout
Failed to fetch ftp://knoppmyth.net/R5/pkgs/mythtv_0.20-8_i386.deb Connection timeout
E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?

Any ideas? I am dead in the water right now...

Those debs may have been removed because the latest release of KnoppMyth comes with 0.20-fixes. Install or upgrade to the latest release.

What are you talking about? R5D1 is the latest version, which I am running, which this thread is about. The file is there as I said it transfers to 100% then errors out.

Anyway, after a reboot it looks like it is working...

The latest release as of this writing is R5E50 See: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13091
As you can see from the date on that post, it was released the day after Christmas. Read this before upgrading: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13108
