Im guessing the issue with "Error Was encountered while displaying video"
is still prevalent in R5f27 ? Anyone tried it yet ? Ive downloaded R5F27 and intend to give it a shot.

Assuming the issue is still there for me can anyone comment on the difficulty of applying the svn patch as shown here

http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/attachment/t ... fix_2.diff

is downloading the myth sources for R5F27 and applying said patch and rebuilding likely to be an arduous task.

Happy to work out the code changes by hand based on the diff file and current KM source and apply by hand if needs be.

I can report that the problem still exists in R5F27. I've had two today.

Thanks for that , at least I know it still an issue so my second question now becomes more important...

im for the first time getting this error with F27. by for the first time, i mean that i didn't get it with F1.

unlike many posts here, im not getting the error at program boundries.. im getting it in the middle of programs.

the error is not particularly frequent.. maybe once or twice an hour.

ive also noticed that im having much more problems with audio sync using F27 than with previous versions.. mainly with transcoded recordings.. but also with live tv occasionally. im not sure if the two are related..

i just wanted to post here to suggest the problem isnt fixed. the mythtv wiki says that this error message is displayed for a variety of errors.. so the fact that lots of people are getting the error may be from more than one cause.

I haven't got this error yet, but I haven't had a lot of live TV time recently, so may be just luck.

Have you gone into mythtv-setup and un-checked the "wait for SEQ header" setting?

Mike

This update to this problem was added in this thread.

The myth BUG 3225 indicates the fix was checked into 0.21 back in September. (My fingers are crossed) I don't know when the official release of 0.21 will be, but the Release of KM following that should have the fix. Since it's been 4 months and none of the bleeding-edgers have re-opened the ticket, it's probably safe to assume that the problem actually is fixed, and all we have to do is keep patient until the fix makes its way down to us. Barring that there's always building directly from SVN; but that carries other risks.

Does anyone have any experience applying patches?

Tim

Lots of us do. You should read up on it and try it yourself. It's very easy and well documented. "man patch" or a quick search will get the information you want.

I was really wondering if anyone had actually applied the patch, before I boldly went to where perhaps someone had been before.

Yes been there, done that, but I really didn't see much difference.

Thanks for the getting me pointed in the right direction. I'll have to read up on it, do a backup, and maybe give it a try.

It may be awhile as I am on the road at the moment.
