Hi Victor,

Yes, almost all files that are not in the /home or the /myth folders will be gone. Take a moment right now to do a mythbackup least you forget. Write down the hostname also as that must stay the same. It is not difficult to make a copy of those special files and maybe place them in a special folder in the /home/mythtv Then after your upgrade you can stuff back as it was.

Please besure to check tjc's Hint& Tips! He covers these details much better than I do.

Mike

Mike, that almost scares me... ;)
But I am happy that (as far as I can remember) I installed all the add-ons in the myth directory.

Do I have to worry about drivers (for my pvr500 and video adapter)?

I changed the recording resolution from 480x480 to 720x480. I read somewhere on this forum that this resolution improves the quality. I realy don't understand why this solved my problem,

This is covered in the R5F27 Hints as Known Issue #4, with a link to the IVTV driver information which explains the gory details. A thorough reading of the hints is strongly recommended.

I'll reproduce the quote from Hans Verkuil (primary IVTV driver developer) on the IVTV mailing list here:
Quote:
I've just confirmed that capturing at anything but 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL) and capturing VBI at the same time (for teletext or closed captions) will produce bad video and bad VBI data on cards with a cx25840 such as the PVR150 and 500. Cards with a saa7115 are not affected.

Since MythTV for some reason captures by default at 480x480 I strongly recommend you change that to 720x480 (720x576 for PAL/SECAM) if you also want MythTV to process VBI for subtitles.

Since fixing the cx25840 setup is quite difficult due to the bad Conexant datasheet and the workaround is simple I will not fix this for the time being.

That's why the hints say... "Don't Panic! :)" Just like The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy...

Thanks for the explanation tjc. I didn't read the R5F27 hints yet, but I will do that before I upgrade. I will not panic ;)

Since I use PAL (the Netherlands), I have to modify my resolution to 720x576, I now use 720x480 (which is already an approvement). Great tip and I will modify it after my recordings are finished :P

Thank you all for helping me out, I was really lost and didn't knew where to start. I am so happy now with my myth system up and running! Will upgrade as soon as I have a spare weekend, I think this is something that takes some time.

It is not completely working, I found something wierd.

After my tv is working I start scheduling some movies and shows. In the "Previous Recordings" it is shown that the recordings are executed successfully. If I watch the "recorded applications" in MythWeb, they are visible.
But if I go to "Watch Recordings" then they does not appear here?? This is strange, isn't it?

Seems like something is still corrupt. Does someone know what?

This usually means that you've accidentally set a filter of some kind. Hit "M" at the watch recordings screen to adjust hose options.
