This sems to have digressed somewhat off the Topic, but it sounds like the tuner card needs to get working first. Once that is up you can do manual scheduling or get a free trial of SD for 1 week.

It appears there are a few people using Pinnacle cards for their choice.

I found this over on the Knoppmyth Wiki.
http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=WhatCardYouUse
Additionally a search in here in the Hardware section may list some items people had to do to get theirs working.

Not sure if any of those is your flavor or not.

The key would be getting the card to work first. Might try posting some info or a call for help regarding getting the card working.

There is some good help in troubleshooting various issues and checking logfiles over on the wiki.

Could start there.

hth.

I'm thinking the card is just too new right now. Pinnacle ensured that it worked with Windows (by including an install CD), but Linux support will probably have to be developed by Linux users.

I am very much a noob with very little programing or Linux experience. I may be able to write my own driver for the card, but even at my part-time pay rate it would be cheaper to buy a different card.

Unfortunately, this particular Pinnacle product (PCTV HD) is not listed under the wiki. I guess Linux veterans were smart enough to buy an established card. I did post in the hardware section, see the link in a previous post.

Thanks for the help

In regards to a TV guide for Aussie users an alternative to OzTivo is Shepherd http://svn.whuffy.com/index.fcgi/wiki

Shepherd uses OzTivo as one of its grabbers as well as several others as primary sources and backup sources depending on data reliability and availability. In post processing it searches IMDB and TVDB to augment program information ( ratings, cast, episode numbers, etc). Keeps a local cache of this infomation so as to minimize bandwidth utilization from repeat showings. Shepherd updates itself and sets up icons too. Guide data for FTA 7HD, 9HD and 10HD should be forth coming.

I've used it for 2 months now and grabs 7 to 8 days of guide info daily. Augmented data occasionally comes out incomplete. Had no problem automatically transitioning to DST.
