Hi,
I also use the isthmus osd and will try on the Retro too. Maybe cesman could include it in the iso? After an upgrade, I always have to go back and reload it. Not a major task, just an inconvience.

I wouldn't change the default install either, that's the classic "You have MythTv running" look! Always a welcome sight :)

The one thing that sends me running back to blueosd time after time, despite the fact that it's generally quite ugly and doesn't have enough room for the descriptions, is the cutpoint editing. It's by far the most spaceous and cleanest interface for that. Making the bar smaller or the indicators harder to see because of surrounding clutter is bad , especially on long recordings where things are already close together...

You made Isthmus? Dude! That is my favorite OSD. I wish it were included in the default KnoppMyth install.
An oversight in the build process which has been remedied.

very good point. Isthmus is going to get an overhaul and I'll take that into consideration.

See my post further up the thread. Also see the http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=LinuxTips page on the wiki.

Nice! I loaded both Retro and Isthmus after reading this thread, and I've adopted both of them.

My only suggestion/request would be to add another line (or two) to the number of lines of menu displayed so that (eg) the main menu would be displayed completely (the config that has WatchTV, Media Library, Manage recordings etc)

Nick

Retro is AWESOME!! I love this theme! It is so clean, and easy on the eyes.
The isthmus OSD is also very nice.
Both of these are now my defaults!

+1 for making this the default theme for KnoppMyth!

Hey, you know what? The isthmus OSD goes well with the "Iullus" theme for mythtv (try it out & see). Looks more like a commercial DVR now.

as i hinted earlier - I *think* im getting more frontend crashes with the RETRO theme - can anyone suggest why ? I was getting about 1/day with RETRO.Ive switched back to blue and not had a crash in a week.

Is this just coincidence ?
Its a pity because i do prefer RETRO - and it would be my first choice.

Did you investigate why the crashes occurred? Switch back to "retro" and see the the crashes reoccur.

Hi Cesman
I have no idea why it should crash. My system has been running without any crash for the last 3 weeks. The only thing I can think of is because of my lousy houskeeping which some one pointed out earlier. What does it say when it crashes maybe some one can help. I'll continue working on Retro after new years and hopefully better housekeeping will solve your probl.

Sorry about that.
Gerhard

it does not say anything useful (imho) unfortunately ...
i tried looking in all the usual places

see this thread http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7218&highlight=
where i talked about this earlier ...

it either seems to crash without a useful message or close down the ui and hang (requiring a kill -9)

thanks for taking an interest and happy christmas
