LIRC is getting a signal from my remote, but for some reason it seems as if the commands don't get sent to mythtv. When I run irw and press buttons, I can see that LIRC is getting a signal and that everything corresponds right to my lircd.conf, but for some reason, mythtv just isn't receiving the commands.

Your files don't agree. The button names must be EXACTLY the same in both files. For example, Vol- is NOT the same as vol- and Menu/i won't be recognised as menu/i. Off is not the same as Power etc.

Ah, you're right. I should have looked at it more thoroughly before posting that. I guess that's not the lircrc file I was using before upgrading.

Oh, that's just a keymapping issue.

You're in the wrong place then. :P You need to go look up faqs and re-mapping keys for lirc. I know, because I have the exact same issue, along with the fact that in the guide I don't have a "page down" so to speak. Both chan up/down and arrow up/down go one listing up and down, rather than full pages, and you're right, rewind does nothing by default.

I just haven't had time to futz with re-mapping all of the keys. You have it working as well as a default install will work I think.

Ok, I've tried and tried, and searched and searched, but still can't get this to work. :oops: :(
The remote works a bit, in that some of the buttons (arrows and ok basically) work within Myth. Numbers etc don't.
I have tried to replace the lirc.conf and lircrc files with some suggested on here. This doesn't make any difference by itself, do I need to recompile LIRC somehow after making these changes for them to have an effect?
FWIW irw gives an error of "connection refused". From my searches I understand that this could be a problem, but the only thing I found to fix this was:
Code:
echo /usr/local/sbin/lircd >> /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh

Which I tried, but still get "connection refused" - what does this mean?

I selected the I686 option in the auto install of KnoppMyth, if that makes any difference, and also have run install-i686-l.
The PC has 2 Hauppauge Nova-T DVB cards in it, with the remote sensor plugged into one of them. Seems to be Event2 from trying cat /dev/input/eventX...

This is doing my head in now, somehow I got the remote working fine under R5A30.2 but cannot for the life of my make it work under R5B7. :cry:

I figured out what the problem was for my case.

I'd edited the lircrc file in Windows, so it has Windows line feeds instead of Unix line feeds.

I ran the command "fromdos /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc" and everything worked perfectly.

Just thought I'd post this in case someone has a similar problem in the future.

At the risk of having a conversation with myself - I've got this sorted now! :)

The fix for me was to do this:
1) untar lirc
2) run ./setup.sh
Select option 1-'Driver config', then option 0-'Other', then option 6-'/dev/input/eventX', followed by option 3-'save and configure'
type 'make' then 'make install'
3) Edit hardware.conf to look like this:
Code:
# /etc/lirc/hardware.conf
#
# Arguments which will be used when launching lircd
LIRCD_ARGS=""

#Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file
START_LIRCMD=false

#Try to load appropriate kernel modules
LOAD_MODULES=true

# Run "lircd --driver=help" for a list of supported drivers.
DRIVER="dev/input"
# If DEVICE is set to /dev/lirc and devfs is in use /dev/lirc/0 will be
# automatically used instead
DEVICE="/dev/input/event2"
MODULES="lirc_dev lirc_i2c"

4) Reboot.

I'm using the lircd.conf and lircrc files from mad_paddler's post at the end of pg3 here: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6232&start=30 and job's a good 'un. :D
