When there is a lot of change, as there is with MythTV version 0.19, many things need to "get ironed out". ..... It could save _you_ some time and much headache.

And i'm pretty sure it will save me a lot of time. My linux/debian skills (or lack therof) are rusty. Its almost 10 years since i had a linux "production" system.

Last weekend i tried to install a fresh debian and mythtv 0.19 the binary way but only ended up being frustrated.....

I've used knoppmyth succesfully some time ago with a PVR250 but is looking forward to the new DVB-T support in 0.19. Since last summer i've been mostly happy with MCE but the broadcasts here has changed from blending the subtitles into the image to sending them as proper DVB subtitles which renders MCE useless for me - and MS does not even plan to fix that....

So since the specs for 0.19 looks so very promissing and I don't have the skills (or the time to get then) to get it working myselves - To all involved: Keep up the good work and be sure i'll be in line to download when it is released.

In the mean time i'll get by with myTheatre

I'm perfectly fine with waiting. Knoppmyth really saved my butt when I went out and bought equipment for my MythTV. I am a linux admin and I had a hell of a time getting IVTV and the hodgepodge of programs and libraries working to get even the most basic functionality out of Myth (and forget TV-OUT).

Knoppmyth 5A22 saved the day and has been working great ever since. I'd wait another 2 months for a good release before trying to dive into a fully custom build. It's a trade off between a fully consumer system like TIVO and a fully DIY like IVTV-Myth. Hats off to the hard working devs and testers that are working overtime for all of us.

This will sound ungrateful, but believe me it most certainly isn't. That said, I think that asking for further clarification on what soon means is perfectly reasonable. It is awesome to know when one installs KM that it is rock-solid, but at the same time it is understandable that folks would be anxious - especially those with DVB cards, etc. If soon slides, then so be it, but a short message would not kill anyone - and I have a family and two jobs, so I know time constraints ;)

At least if there were an RSS feed that could be monitored for the announcement, one wouldn't have to keep checking back to find out what soon means. Guess I could set a custom one up....

I dont think anyone needs further clarification on when .19 will be out. Just wait and quit asking. I'll be out when it's out. Continuing to ask (pressure) those invloved are just going to water them off. Leave them the heck alone and wait. When it's ready you'll see an announcement here. End of story. If anyone wants to argue, dont. Refer to Cesmans posts in this thread.

Can't Keep my mouth shut any longer............

Walk the dog, Water the plants, Feed the fish, Clean Your desk, Dust the Television, Spend time with the kids, Buy more memory, Brush up on your linux skills-
('cause if they were perfect we wouldn't be watching this thread so intensely!! )

Take your spouse out for dinner, and spend lots of time waiting hand and foot on them.

And before you know it, the release will be out, you'll be ready for it, and your spouse will be so sick of you "hovering" that you'll get the "Please go play with your stupid TV thingy!"

WOO HOO!

[mouth shut]

But I have time to do all that, since Knoppmyth makes it so easy to install a PVR! :D

It seems like a regular status update would probably satisfy alot of peoples curiosity and save a lot of these questions.

If people knew that the developers were working on sorting out a bug in xyz, or waiting for feedback from private testers on their latest changes, they wouldn't need to ask what was happening.

I appreciate your logic but more info wouldn't change a thing. There would still be a bunch of people waving their "When can I test the beta" flags. Cecil and Xsecrets has given all the info we need in this thread. The info is translated: Good things come to those that wait. No amount of asking or info will hurry things up.

Nobody is asking anybody to hurry up - they just saw a couple of messages saying "soon" and wondered what had happened - a pretty normal response I would have thought.

Looking forward to it anyway.

Hi developers,

First I want to thank all developers and testers of that great projekt :-)

Yes I saw this posts about asking and maybe answering when the next release will come :-) but there is not a real answer. Yes I know that's a very difficult question and better less problems than 1 or 2 days earlier :-)

Is there a roadmap for that new release? Not when it will come but What will be new there ...

I like to have 0.19 ... yes I sw the post :-) ... import of channes.conf is very nice :-) ... I have dvb-c and running "mythfilldatabase ---manual" is a /("&% thing (over 100 channels)

I like to have mythlcd running with new release ... I own a graphic lcd ks0108 based ...

Thanks again for the great work
Martin

This is almost exactly the type of "are we there yet" questions that Cecil was trying to forestall and any number of us have been trying to get people to stop asking.

Cecil has made his "press release". I'm pretty sure he said both what and all that he intended to say. Would it kill people to stop badgering the poor man as he's asked repeatedly?

Why all the excitement over this pending release? is it going to be something totally new or just little updates to what we already have and are using?

With 0.19 comes many improvement. What i'm looking forward to is dvb-t subtitling, but have a look at http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Re ... tes_-_0.19 for the long list

@tcj

Ok ... I shame and don't do it again ;-)

My main reason was, only making some notes about some wishes for next release and ask some question about what's inside new release ... maybe it is possible to give a small answer on homepage ? Nobody else will aks again :-) if you don't want continue this thread ... close it!

@rigga
the most changes I read in some other threads will be Mythtv v0.19 ... I think.

Thanks
Martin
