Worked like a charm for me on R5E50, thanks cecil. I have no problem paying the money for datadirect right now, but I do hope that price goes down very soon. Hopefully if they get a surplus they can redistribute some of that money to knoppmyth and mythtv!

EDIT: I'm running R5F1 and...
Anyway, I tried the instructions, and on the link phase of the make it spews a lot of stuff like this:
../../libs/libmythtv/libmythtv-0.20.2.so: undefined reference to `ProgramInfo::showDetails() const'
I don't really want to proceed with link errors, do I? Not sure why this happened.
My system tanked due to a lightning strike last weekend and I'm running a patched-together slow machine with little RAM; I have a new machine coming and maybe I'll just wait and build a new myth install if that will take care of working with SD.

The update went fine, and everything works except mythweb.
I get the error
Quote: Error at /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb/includes/mythbackend.php, line 167: Incompatible protocol version (mythweb=30, backend=31)
Any suggestions? Google wasn't much of a help for me.

Sorry, I didn't cover upgrading MythWeb. Just read the MythTV docs.

Thanks Cecil.
Painless and looks like it worked.
Code: cd mythplugins/mythweb cp -R * /var/www/mythweb

Mythweb is initially installed to the mythplugins/mythweb directory.
This copies it to the location of all of the other html documents so it is served by apache (and therefore, accessable from your browser)

The update from R5E50 mostly worked for me. Thank you Cecil for your detailed instructions.
The two oddities that I ran into were:
1. After updating (including deleting the video sources and rebuilding them), certain channels consistently failed to achieve a lock, for all of my tuners. I have an HDHomeRun and an Air2PC rev 0.2. The affected channels had 85% signal strength or better.
To try to work around this, I restarted both the MBE and the HDHomeRun box. Then I rescanned the channels via the first HDHomeRun tuner, using the option to delete any existing channel information.
This seemed to make the problem go away. Although I saw a single failure to lock on one channel on one of the tuners. So I'm still a little nervous about channel reliability with this update.
2. I noticed some errors when I ran "mythfilldatabase --refresh-all" related to downloading icons:
Code: 2007-09-01 14:11:44.262 Attempting to fetch icon with: wget --timestamping --directory-prefix=/root/.mythtv/channels 'http://images.zap2it.com/station_logo/abc_affiliate.jpg' --14:11:44-- http://images.zap2it.com/station_logo/abc_affiliate.jpg => `/root/.mythtv/channels/abc_affiliate.jpg' Resolving images.zap2it.com... 206.18.98.149 Connecting to images.zap2it.com|206.18.98.149|:80... connected. HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found 14:11:47 ERROR 404: Not Found.
I don't know why it's trying to download icons from Zap2It. I thought the point of this update was to shed all things Zap2It. Anyway, the actual scheduling data seems to be successfully downloading from Schedules Direct: Code: 2007-09-01 14:12:37.819 Grabbing data for Sat Sep 1 2007 offset 1 2007-09-01 14:12:37.819 From Sun Sep 2 07:00:00 2007 to Mon Sep 3 07:00:00 2007 (UTC) 2007-09-01 14:12:37.820 Grabbing listing data --14:12:37-- http://webservices.schedulesdirect.tmsdatadirect.com/schedulesdirect/tvlistings/xtvdService => `-' Resolving webservices.schedulesdirect.tmsdatadirect.com... 206.18.98.175 Connecting to webservices.schedulesdirect.tmsdatadirect.com|206.18.98.175|:80... connected. Again, I'm not sure that the icon download error means anything. I don't think I've ever even seen the channel icons, but maybe that's a side effect of the fact that I'm using the Mac OS X MFE. Or maybe I should have answered 'yes' to the following question rather than leaving the default of 'no' when building XMLTV? Code: Grabber for North American Channel Icons (tv_grab_na_icons) [no]
Note that I'm not really looking for any answers with this post, since things basically seem to be working. But if anyone has thoughts regarding channel reliability or the significance of the icon download errors, let me know.

Guys,
This is what drives me nuts about this forum. I go step by step with the instructions and my box is blown up. It crashed again just now. But I don't see any help.
I mean, I know you all work hard and this is a buyer beware environment... but can somebody at least give me a clue to what could have caused my pain? I'm dead in the water now and pretty frustrated.
Thanks in advance!

I finally got it to work The make commands took forever and appeared to be stuck in a loop so I kept figuring it wasn't going anywhere. I was wrong it was similar things going by not same things.
I also had to run all perl and make commands as root because I didn't have "permissions" to touch some make**.tmp file.
Thanks Cecil.

What do you mean by crash? Do you just have to restart the BE? Maybe the babysitter script would help as a band-aid to a problem that many have.
