Post subject: | Questions I'm having trouble finding answers to. :-) |
As the subject line says, I have a couple questions I've been trying to find answers for and haven't had much luck yet. I will admit I've been out of the UNIX world for far too long, so I'm a little rusty but trying to get back into the swing of things. Simple questions really, but the queries I've done have been for naught. First off, the hardware I have is: ASUS P4B-266 1.7GHz P4 512M RAM 3rd party Radeon 7000 Hauppauge PVR-150 (not MCE) 200Gig, 7200RPM MaxStor (Hey...it was cheap ![]() Intel NIC 19" KDS Monitor Running KnoppMyth R5B7 I don't have a network drop in my bedroom (upstairs and old house) so I will be periodically plugging into the network to download the guide. My question is this: How often is the guide updated automatically (if i had it plugged into the network all the time) and how do I manually force a guide download? When I pick "Watch TV", it plays fine (since I made changes to the XF86Config-4 file), but it's recording as I'm watching TV. How do I turn off this "feature"? I only want it to record when I tell it to. I pretty much left the system defaults. And lastly, when I go to watch an owned DVD, it starts to play and plays the FBI warning but then kicks back out to the Myth menu. I'm sure I need something installed to let DVDs play like you do while in Winblows. Any help is greatly appreciated! sting |

You can't. That's how a PVR works. You're ALWAYS watching a recording. It's just a matter of how far behind real time, and the storage lifetime. Otherwise you couldn't do PVR things like pause or rewind live TV. The software does the right thing as far as expiring them quickly and whenever necessary to make space for "real" recordings, so don't sweat it. If seeing them in the recordings list bothers you, there's a checkbox under setup that filters them out of the "all recordings" view. |

It is configured to run when the zap2it server suggests it is best to next run it.. mythfilldatabase There is no point to a PVR if it doesn't record. This is how you can pause, review, etc. You cannot turn it off. You can use another program for Live TV such as xawtv (doesn't work with all types for tuners). |
