I am thinking of taking my mythbox off the wire so I can move it to another room. I have a little netgear usb wireless module pod thingy.

First, are these supported? if so, how do I configure the connection to my wireless hub/AP to select SSID and WEP security settings in linux?

Thanks in advance!

A lot of devices are supported via ndiswrapper nowadays. Best advice is to google with the model number of your device and 'linux'.

Assuming your device is supported via ndiswrapper, search this forum for instructions. Also search for wlan. But basically you'll want to:

1) Install ndiswrapper (already done in Knoppmyth)
2) Configure ndiswrapper with the right windows driver file for your device
3) load ndiswrapper module
4) configure wireless connection

iwconfig will allow you config your wlan0 device (step 4) for testing. Once its working you can edit the scripts to make it all load up during boot-up.

There are all also a number of linux-native drivers for different hardware, eg acx100/111, Prism, etc. If thats what your hardware uses then those modules would be installed and loaded instead of ndiswrapper.
