Post subject:  ac3 audio choppy

Hello, I'm running r5b7 on an A64 3000+, 512 MB ram system w/ a pvr 500 and a chaintech av710 providing spdif out to my reciever. Everything works great except I have a little audio issue:

Whenever I'm watching a video (dvd, video on hard disk) that has an ac3 soundtrack and the unit is recording the audio goes choppy. When the unit is not recording everything is fine, but as soon as a recording starts the audio begins to cut out. For some reason this does not affect videos with mp3 audio, only ac3. I've checked in alsamixer and the master volume is below 70%, but I believe that doesn't affect spdif volume. Any ideas?

Just in case someone has this problem in the future, The fix for me was to use a case that doesn't use a riser card for the pci slots. Apparently the choppiness was causes by the tuner card and soundcard sharing one pci bus.
