Hey guys. I've done some looking around and a few forums and I haven't found any resolutions to my problem.

I can play DVD's without issue, but I cannot get my system to rip correctly. I've turned off automounter and also tinkered with the settings in an attempt to resolve this myself. I generally don't post but I have seriously looked around and tried stuff for about 2 hours.

Error when attempting an import:
No Jobs. Checking and/or waiting for DVD.

I'm running R5C7, its a clean install.

Athlon 1500+
1gig Memory
GForce4 TI 4800+
Sony DVD Drive

Thanks in advance.

Same here, I haven't had one successful rip since installing this version. It seems slower and just mysteriously dies during ripping, sometimes after 6 seconds on some discs, later on others. I have the pineapple stuff installed already and have automount off. Plus I can never eject DVDs from the menu either.

I was having this same problem with 5b7 and then I reload and created a cache partition even though in the lastest verion you should not need it. As soon as I did that I didn't have anymore problems importing DVD's

Just to make sure I do it right... how would I go about doing that when I install? Is it obvious?

I do a manual install when I do it but that is also because I am using SATA dirve and not normal ATA drives. Take a look at this link under the manaul install and it will tell you how.

If you are doing the auto install and if it asks you how to partition the drive you should just be able to put in the cache partition.

hope that helps

No luck. I attempted a manual install with the cache partition and it didn't resolve the problem.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Mine worked after I 1. did a perfect rather than ISO rip, and 2. disabled automount by editing /etc/auto.mnt and commenting out the cdrom (dvd) drive.

As someone else already posted, change the path to /dev/dvd.

As stated above

"I can play DVD's without issue, but I cannot get my system to rip correctly."

Just for grins...

root@mythtv:~# ls -l /dev/dvd
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root cdrom 8 May 29 14:13 /dev/dvd -> /dev/hdb
root@mythtv:~#

Fair enough... Perhaps a search of the forum.
