If I select Watch TV and flip through the channels watching 20secs of a channel and then go back to look at my recordings I see that it has recorded everything I watched. How can I turn this feature off? I know before nothing would record while watching live TV unless I pushed the Record button.

It took me a bit because I had to remember where it was but here is a link to another post about why it is there and how to set it to not show up.

has anyone figured out what it is that makes some peoples systems default to showing this, while the vast majority default correctly to not showing the livtv?

I assume it is due to their lack of reading the documentation. They just flip through all the setup pages and check/uncheck settings, guessing at what will happen. They see "Show all recordings?" and assume that they want to enable it. Then when it turns out they don't like that setting, they come here and complain instead of reading the documentation or searching for the fifteen other posts that already answer the question.

I think there might be some upgrade vs. new install factor too...

I was just wondering I don't really have an extra box, so all my testing of new versions has been with upgrades, and not fresh installs, but I don't remember any of the testers complaining of this issue when they tested on new installs, though they may have just gone and changed the setting without mentioning it. If a fresh install does actually set the livetv to be shown that might be worth changing the default.
