One of the other threads (I can't recall which at the moment) mentioned that mplayer was compiled for an AMD and if we had a pentium we could recompile it for optimization.
I have never recompiled mplayer before ans was wondering which switches were used when originally compiled and which switches are
1) needed
2) recommended
when recompiling.

I have unzipped the mplayer source to /tmp and have started playing around with ./configure. These are the switches I have used so far:

--enable-dvdnav (Is this DVD menu support?)

I will be playing around with:

--enable-gui
using the different codecs

Is there any advice people can give me?
After I run make install will I have to copy some files to somewhere, or will that be done automatically?

Any tips/suggestions/pointers people could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
tyro

Will tell you all you need to know. You don't really need --enable-gui and MythVideo will do nicely!
