Post subject:  manual install issues

Hi All,

Months ago I gave up on installing KnoppMyth. I seemed to be making progress, but it was taking a lot of time. This was back in the R5A16 days. I am back now and need some help already.

I have SATA so I am running a manual install. I tried to follow a combination between the pamphlet and the WIKI. It seemed to rn OK then drop to the command line and I rebooted.

At that point it rebooted to command line at the login prompt. No X windows as expect. Tried logging in as mythtv but don’t know the password. Logged in in as root and starting X opens a very basic session.

Also I don't seem to have either of my network adapters functioning at this point. They are recognized but have no IP. Of course these would be assigned via DHCP. Maybe I am expecting this too early.

Not sure where to start. Happy to provide anything that may help.

Of course you won't get X windows. KnoppMyth includes the X Window System... What type of video card is that (sorry, I've no interest in googling it...)? If it is an nvidia, you see where it was installing the nvidia driver after rebooting? If not, ensure the kernel got untarred (or untar it manually) and install the nvidia drivers. The password for the user mythtv is mythtv. If you have a newer nvidia chipset based card, you may need a newer nvidia driver that what is included.
