I wanted to see if anybody else is running into my problem. I know how to set the clock and I have even set up time-syncing using NTP. My problem is that my system clock is now set to UTC and I think the timezone is set to Eastern (-5). This is not a problem as I can correct my guide listings by subtracting 5 hours from the listings. I had the system disconnected from the net and ran out of guide info. I reconnected the network, ran mythfilldatabase and looked at the guide. The earliest new data that was downloaded was for 5 hours from current time (future). How do you set up your system clock? (ie. Local or UTC) I guess I need to figure out if NTP has an option to offset for my local timezone. Thanks for any advice. Shawn |

It's Unix. The system clock is UTC. Always. You can run the motherboard hardware clock on either UTC or local. Unless you dual-boot Windows a lot, you should run the motherboard clock on UTC. |

Hi, Even if you dual boot, just leave the clock alone when in the "other" os... To get back on track, as root run # tzconfig and you can go through the correct settings. Use NewYork for FL area. Also if the clock is too far out of reach ntp doesn't seem to "instantly" correct it. What you can do is make it tweak the clock on every boot / reboot. I add an entry to my bootmisc.sh to tweak the clock before ntpd fires up. echo "ntpdate north-america.pool.ntp.org" >> /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh Besure there are two > > or you will destroy bootmisc.sh You may have to dump the listing and as user mythtv redo mythfilldatabase Mike |

I think there is a page on this up on the wiki too. You're looking for the page about how to correct the clock and schedule information... http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=ProgramGuideIsOff Note that in modern versions of KM, ntpd is already set up for you, and while you set the timezone to your local one and set the clock using that, the system keeps it in UTC internally as someone noted above. |
