Post subject: | myth crashing |
To start it has been a relatively easy install with very few problems. Now that Myth is installed I am having one persistant problem. To start I am running R5C7, and these are the boxes specs: First off The boxes specs are: -Shuttle SN41G + onboard video[GeForce2 MX 265-bit 3D VGA] + onboard sound [Realtek ALC 650] + nForce2/MCP-T chipset -Hauppague PVR 350 -Seagate 120 GB hdd -Athalon XP 2500+ -512 mb Ram So when I start myth it runs fine, until I go to watch tv, then after 1-15 min the system will crash. Sometimes it will crash to the desktop, sometimes will crash to this wierd flower login screen and then re set the system to the basic menu, , and sometimes the entire X-server seems to crash. I tried running the front end from an X-Term window to get errors and got a segmentation error, then the screen flashed and reset to that flower login screen, not allowing me to read much on the screen. Then it said the greater program seems to be crashing, going to try using another one, and once again reset to the main menu. I am completely lost with this problem, not even knowing where to start. I am new to myth so any help would be appreciated. Mike |

I just ran the frontend from a X-term and it crashed and let me see the error which doesnt seem to say much, it is: 6-06-20 14:05:17.863 TV: Changing from None to WatchingTV 6-06-20 14:05:17.911 Using realtime priority 6-06-20 14:05:17.863 Video timing method: USleep with busy wait and this is when it crashed. When I tried to open Mozilla to copy and paste the entire terminal contents, it would continual get a segmetaion error. Does this mean it could be a hardware problem, since it is not only myth? I do not know if this helps, but I figured I would post the information. Thanks again Mike[/code] |

I'd guess a video driver problem. The log is: /var/log/XFree86.0.log Try upgrading or downgrading the nVidia drivers? 7174 seems to be the most stable. I'm up to 8762 and am thinking of dropping back. |

The "real time priority" option used to cause havoc on my system. You might try turning it off in the MythTv frontend setup. I think it's under the TV playback options. I also get better results with "sync to opengl" OFF. |

I am currently using ver. 7174 drivers. Changing those two options seemed to get rid of the majority of the problems, but after watching the box for about 30 min or so. The screen freezes with blue stripes with no response to keyboard or mouse. I am going to try and have this happen with an X-term window up to see if I can get an error. Thanks for the initial help!!
