Post subject:  Can't Download ISO

This is kind of a weird problem... I've been trying to download the ISO for KnoppMyth (and a few other misc distributions) for MONTHS, without any success.

I live out in the boonies, where Sympatico DSL service is only just barely available. Because of this, the only way my DSL connection will stay up and relatively stable is to have error correction done at the source. But this "error correction" seems to stall all my downloads of Linux distro ISOs. Oddly, I can download ANYTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD without ANY problems!!! It's just certain Linux distros that won't download.

KnoppMyth is no exception to this. Whenever I try to download it, it stalls at 3.6 MB. I tried from every location possible, all over the world! I've tried with BitTorrent also since that downloads the chunks out of sequence, but the exact chunk at the 3.6MB location refused to download no matter how many times I tried. The same thing happens with other distros, except each distro has it's own stall-point (ie. 14MB, 6.2MB, etc) I'm starting to think there's some kind of conspiracy going on...

Anyways, is there any other way to get KnoppMyth? Is there some way to download the CD in a non-image format? I used to download new versions of Slackware by downloading all the individual packages and directories and making a CD manually out of that, but that was many years ago when dial-up was still my only option. I don't think the Knoppix image format allows for that.

I'm getting pretty desperate here...

Thanks,
Frank

Cannot say I've heard of anyone having an issue downloading... Glad to know I make something that you've tried to download of months! ;) Have you tried the torrent (look at the bottom of the page).

yep! One of the first things I tried...

I'm starting to think this is some kind of Microsoft conspiracy to prevent country peasants from acquiring a copy of Linux. The error-correction software my ISP uses is provided by Microsoft. Can't be lettin' corn-growers and cow-rearers getting a taste of freedom! Those darn politicians might STARVE if they start playing with computers instead of growing food!

My ISP's response to my complaints:

"Well, since your service isn't working as well as you'd like, we could always cancel it altogether and let you go back to dial-up. We don't have too many customers in your area anyways."

GGGAAAAHHH!!!!!!
