As a previous Gentoo user, I can appreciate the complexities of setting up a mythtv box
. My story started with a fried harddrive do to a power outage (yes, I just went and bought a UPS). I was looking at the different distros to run myth on.
I knew of knoppmyth, but I thought that wasn't "cool enough" - that's for noobs
- I was thinking of joining the masses and going the fedora route. But, late at night, I figured what the heck, I'll DL the ISO and try it and hey if it doesn't work - no loss. I mean, there is no way you can get mythtv up and running in 30 minutes - it takes days and days of messing with kernel options and drivers. In otherwords, I wasn't expecting much

I'll cut to the chase and just say - WOW
- was I beyond surprise and beyond impressed. I thank you very much for your efforts - and to all the others who may have not believe a simple (and quick) mythtv install was possible, I say just give it a try - you'll never turn back
