I have a microsoft remote model 1039, see:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/MC ... wer_remote

I got it working on my frontend with r5c7 but i cannot use all buttons.
when testing buttons with the irw command i get no output for these buttons:
# (hash)
* (star)
teletext
red
green
blue
yellow

somehow lirc doesnt recognise them...
Is this a known problem w/ or w/o a solution?

I really want to use all buttons on the remote.
/Martin

Do they show up when you run irw? If so they're probably just not assigned to anything in your /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc file. Searching here for the name of that file should provide lots of examples of how to customize this for yourself. If not, they're probably missing or incorrectly defined in your /etc/lirc/lircd.conf file. Again searching for that name should turn up many, many examples.

thx for the quick reply.

what I meant was probably a bit unclear:
I get response from ALL buttons(when testing them with irw) BUT the ones I listed, namely:

Im using the lircd.conf file that comes with r5c7
located at /usr/share/lirc/remotes/mceusb/

The thing is that this file is missing code entries for these seven buttons listed above, and all my search attempts both here and with google does not give any results with a complete lircd.conf file (that includes RC5 codes for these seven buttons)

SO, if I get your point correct; all buttons that is reported back to stdout by irw MUST be included in the lircd.conf? is that so?
then I have at least narrowed my problem down to finding the correct RC5 codes for the last seven buttons then? and as i said, no luck in finding a complete lircd.conf for mceusb2 mod1039.

/Martin

After continuos searching and asking friends (that apparently are better googlers than me) this link appeared:

http://www.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv- ... 31803.html

which has a complete lircd.conf file for ms remote model 1039.

I will try this at home later tonight and I will get back with the results.
until then.. ta'daa.

One of the ir* utilities will actually capture the raw codes for you. Don't remember which one off the top of my head, but I know this because folks here have used it to deal with exactly the situation you had. The infomation should still be somewhere in the forums. Have you checked the wiki to see if there's a howto?

Hi again.

success, finally. The new lircd.conf file I found (at the link I posted) fixed the missing buttons.
Actually I had tried the missing RC6 codes manually couple of days ago by entering them in the conf file by hand but I thought it was enough to restart the gdm with
Code:
/etc/init.d/gdm restart

for the new lircd.conf to take effect.. but obviously I was wrong.. well, well.. I wasted a couple of hours of my life there ;) Somehow I was certain that lirc did a restart when gdm restarted, but it wasnt.

Anyhow. happy ending.
I can truly recommend this remote to others. Lots of buttons and the power and vol buttons are programmable so that you can power on/off your TV and alter the volume on your receiver. Now I only use one singel remote in my living room.

and for the record, regarding irrecord. I think thats what you are referring to, tjc, isnt it?
I tried this also and indeed, all buttons where then recognised, but the final result wasnt acceptable. When using the remote I had to fast double click for lirc to take it as a "single click". And if i single clicked, nothing happened.. and after a pause I clicked again - two clicks where registered - resulting in two jumps in the menu. very weird..
I did this full procedure(irrecord) a couple of times(using different technices when registering all the buttons) but the result was the same.
I even experimented a lot with the lirc constructions:
Code:
   repeat   = ...
   delay   = ...
   config   = ...
   mode   = ...
   flags   = ...

but couldnt get rid of this "double click" effect. maybe someone else can straighten this out?

Thanx for a great system! knoppmyth really fullfills all my needs fo my home entertainment system.
