Post subject:  major vlc issues after "upgrade"

I have been successfully using r5c7 since it came out. Recently, I messed up some stuff with my webserver that I couldn't fix, so I ran mythbackup, and then reinstalled knoppmyth r5c7 using the autoupgrade option. I've been using vlc as my player for mythvideo, and I haven't had a problem with it in the past. My player command was "/usr/bin/vlc -f %s vlc:quit". When I reinstalled knoppmyth, none of my videos would play. A quick "locate vlc" revealed that vlc was in /usr/local/bin, so i changed my player to "/usr/local/bin/vlc -f %s vlc:quit", which still didn't work. I thought that perhaps since vlc was in a different place, i may have installed it myself, and gotten a more updated version. So i thought I would try to install it again:
Code:
root@mythtv:/myth# apt-get install vlc
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package vlchttp://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=KnoppMythInstally
root@mythtv:/myth#

"apt-cache search vlc" also resulted in nothing. Thinking that was odd, I tried replacing my new sources.list with the backed up one, did an apt-get update, and still got nothing. I added videolan.org's repository and tried to install it, and it still said it couldn't find the package. Am I missing something incredibly obvious here? Finally, I tried "vlc -f filename.avi" from the command line...a window opened, and then immediately closed. The result is kind of hard to read, as I only have my knoppmyth box hooked up to a tv monitor and the letters are really fuzzy, but it's something like:
Code:
[000000243] fb video output error: cannot get terminal mode (invalid argument)
[000000243] mpeg_audio decoder: MPGA channels:1 samplerate:44300 bitrate:125
[000000253] main private error: option glx-glm does not exist
xlib:  extension "xFree86-DF1" missing on display ":0.0".
X Error of failed request:  BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major (word I can't read at all) of failed request:  42 (X_SetInputFocus)
Serial number of failed request:  93
Current serial number in output stream:  113
Can anybody offer me any help here, cause I'm completely lost?

Can anybody at least confirm that I should be able to apt-get install vlc?

vlc is already installed. Why apt-get? In the future, watch what you post in KnoppMyth > Installation.
