Post subject:  KnoppMyth Local Homepage

Has anyone had any success (or heard about success) in creating a decent looking homepage for KnoppMyth that would have links to various parts of the server? I've messed around with the page as the white BG + black text doesn't do it for me. BTW not talking about Mythweb, just the standard http://localhost page. Thanks

You may want to check the recently released R5D1. Changelog notes

Minor changes to index.html.

Hmm.. I wasn't going to upgrade to R5D1 as my R5C7 setup is finally working perfectly plus that sounds like it might just be small layout changes. What I'm kind of looking for is a drastic overhaul. It doesn't even have to be KnoppMyth exclusive since all distros should support it. Maybe I'll just have to start making my own.

That's the spirit :) Let us know what you come up with.

OK, I haven't worked on it much but I did cleanup the HTML (it was filled with a lot of unneccessary stuff) and added a style sheet that will make it look more like the default colors of MythWeb. May get around to adding some more stuff later. zip or tar.gz for your pleasure. Just put the index.html in place of the existing one (back it up just in case) and put the layout.css in the same directory as the index.html. Anybody can do what ever they want with this. Enjoy... hopefully

PS you may need to change the title in the html file. It's commented so it should be easy.

I like it! Couldn't you potentially make it just use the existing mythweb css? That way, if someone changes their mythweb theme, KnoppMyth's index.html would change appearance accordingly.

What if he makes a version that uses the core mythweb CSS and also contains Tux with his remote?

I'd have to see it first...

I was working on it a bit and I was able to pull some of the stuff from the mythweb.css files but some just had to be outside (styles would conflict and look really weird) but I put the necessary stuff imbedded in the html so there's no need for the layout.css anymore. BTW I can add the Tux with the remote but I don't have a source pic. Any idea where to get it?

Here's a mockup of the tux with remote. My personal remote so I thought it would look good. Any suggestions? PSD is available if you want.

I'm with you. I DL/d the samples and I do like the theming, but I missed the artwork.

Alright. New version with Tux (with remote) and pulls some stuff from the mythweb css files. Just put index.html at the root position and remote_tux.png in an "image" folder directly beneath it. Unzipping/Untarring should do this automagically. Enjoy, hopefully

I think the indentation needs to be done consistently. The documentation and keybindings sections should be above their descriptive text. The header text is also hard to differentiate from the body text.

The original KM and Tux logo is here: /var/www/header.png, and it appeared at the top of the old index page.

Alright, I can fix that later. BTW I don't have a header.png anywhere in my root directory. Running RC57 BTW. Know anywhere to get it?
