Hi,

I have R5D1 installed and working fine. The problem Im having now is that Im trying to get Mythstream working. I can get the audio streams working fine.

My problem is that when I pick a video stream I get the sound but i dont get any video. I have tried several different streams in the tv list but the same problem happens. I really want to stream TvuPlayer from my windows machine to my mythtv machine. I get the audio but no picture.

Does anyone know what im doing wrong? Do I need to update the codec or should R5D1 already have the latest ones?

My system is P3 1ghz, Dvico Plus, FX5200, 512meg ram.

Id appreciate any advice. Thanks

Mythstream uses Mplayer. You may want to try installing the essential codec pack. Some codecs such as realmedia, quicktime, etc are not installed out of the box. This guide is a good walkthough.

I cant find a web browser to download anything. I tried downloading on my windows machine but then cant get it from my windows machine into my myth machine.

Wget is a command line util to download files. So command to get codec pack you are looking for may be something like below from KM box.

Code:
wget http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/essential-20060611.tar.bz2

Here is a good intro to Linux WIKI page. Is a bunch of ways to move files from Windows PC to Linux box. WinSCP is a client to transfer files over SCP protocol.

You can scp things from anther machine, use wget, use samba or nfs to remotely access filesystems, and there is a browser built into MythTV. I'd recommend wget since it's very straightforward and easy for me to dscribe. ;-)

- Get a shell session on you KM machine (see the LinuxTips page for more details - http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=LinuxTips)

- Run wget using the URL for the file you want to get:
Code:
wget http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/essential-20060611.tar.bz2

- The file will be DL'ed to your current directory. You can get fancier than this by reading the wget man page and trying other options described there:
Code:
man wget

Thank you so much to everyone who replied. I have been struggling trying to figure out how to use linux. After reading your posts Im now starting to work out how to use it. It will probably take awhile to get the hang of xterm as opposed to a windows based version im used to but it seems pretty powerfull. Going to do a lot of reading now I uderstand how it all works.

I got the update working and now have video working with mythstream but most importantly now understand how to work with xterm. Ive also now able to network the computers.

Thanks, been a great help.
