I did some searching, and I tried setting DPMS to false, but that didn't work. I also tried commenting out the line, but that didn't work either. Any suggestions for what to try next?

If I understand your question, I had a similar problem. Try updating your nvidia driver. To do this:

$/etc/init.d/gdm stop
download the source by:
$wget http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linu ... 2-pkg1.run
(but be sure you're in a home directory or you'll forget about the file).
$sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run

This will run the script, and if your lucky, a reboot later will have everything working fine. Let me know if this works.

Okay. I'll give that a shot. Right now I jus' swapped it to S-Video for the time being.
