Post subject: | OSD disappears after browsing program guide *FIXED* |
While watching live tv, when I pull up the program guide and select a new channel (and sometimes even when I don't), the on screen display overlay disappears the next time I push a button on the remote. I'm pretty sure it isn't the remote acting up, because I can still enter a channel number (which no longer displays on screen) and the tv will change channels, and I can tell that the guide is still working because pushing the buttons to bring it back up and change channels still has the desired effect, even though the OSD isn't there. Using the keyboard directly has the same effect (channels still change, can still escape out, etc., but no OSD). If I exit out to the frontend menus and go back in, everything shows up again, until the next time I bring up the guide and change the channel, at which point the OSD disappears again. If it helps at all, I'm using the PVR 350 card for input and output, R5C7 (tried the newest release but the PVR 350 out is all mucked up with that release at the moment). Everything else works beautifully, but this one little glitch is driving me nuts. My best guess is that it has something to do with the tv feed stealing focus and the OSD coming up under it for some reason. I hope I've made sense without rambling for too long, and any help would be greatly appreciated. |

at a time when the OSD should be popping up, are you seeing anything showing up in /var/log/messages or /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log? |

in /var/log/messages or /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log? /var/log/messages: Code: Sep 13 20:35:28 zoidberg kernel: ivtv0 warning: DMA_TO: REG_DMAXFER 2 wait failed
Sep 13 20:45:55 zoidberg kernel: ivtv0 warning: prep_user_dma: SG_length 17 page_count 17 still full? Sep 13 20:45:55 zoidberg kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: ivtvfb_prep_dec_dma_to_device, Error with get_user_pages: 1376256 bytes, 17 pages returned Sep 13 20:45:55 zoidberg kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: Error: prep osd dma to device rc=-5 Sep 13 20:45:55 zoidberg kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: DMA xfer from af09a000 of 1376256 bytes failed with (-5) offset = 0x0, total 1376256 Nothing abnormal in /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log The fact that the term osd exists in the warnings and errors obviously means something is jacked up. Another thing I noticed today, when i alt-x, it pulls the terminal window up under the tv feed. The terminal window has focus, but the tv image is still on top. Really starting to bug the crap out of me. It feels like this has to do with the fact that I'm using the PVR 350 out to get to my tv. I have an nVidia card with video out on it but I had trouble figuing out how to send a signal out of that card so I went with the PVR 350 out instead. Wondering if it would be easier to reinstall the nVidia card and try it again... |

So I went in (through mythweb) and deleted a bunch of the extra direcTV channels that I didn't need (took awhile, there were a ton). My problem has now disappeared. I don't know if maybe there was some bad data in the channel table that isn't there anymore, or if ivtv was struggling with building a program guide with so many channels in it. Either way, it appears to be fixed. |
