I have a hauppage 250 silver remote running on R5D1. It worked perfectly, but I wanted to set some of the unused buttons to run a script, so I edited the /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc file to do so. After I did that, I killed the lircd process and restarted it, and the remote hasn't worked since. I've rebooted several times, tried to copy the lircrc.orig file to the lircrc file, and even run the install-i686 -l command the wiki suggested (which gave me 2 file missing errors), all to no avail. I also tried to run some of the scripts in the /etc/rcX.d folders, but those proved worthless as well. I'm at a loss as to why the remote stopped working when all I did was edit one file, please help. Thanks in advance.

How did you edit the file? Who did you edit the file as? What does this show on your box?

If you see missing files, different owners or permisions, or anything other than "0a" for the special characters there is a problem.
