Hi,
After a lot of good advice on the forum i have finally got my mythtv R5D1 setup and working on my P3 1ghz 512meg ram with divco Plus with 20gig hd.(combined frontend/backend). Many thanks to all who have helped.

I have three problems that have occured.

1. every couple of hours I get mythtv dropping out to the desktop screen (screen where you can get into xterm etc). I hit alt m to get back to the frontend click "whatch tv" and it continues on fine. This mainly happens when i change channels.
2. I also randomly get a message when whatching tv on a blue screen that says something like "Encountered Error while playing video" I click ok and it takes me back to the menu then i can click "whatch tv" and everything works fine again.
3. While using the remote watching tv the remote stops working but I can still watch live tv but cant change channels or adjust anything. The keyboard also doesnt respond to escape or number keys and i cant get back to the main menu. I can open xterm or change the console screen. I end up having to reboot with the power button on the computer. ( I have read today that i could type "killall mythfrontend"...am yet to try it though).

Its very frustrating as with the combination of these, its becoming unusable, especially for my wife who ive nearly won over but is becoming impatient especially when it happens in the middle of her shows. Could all these be due to the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated

David.

Are you running the same version of KnoppMyth? Have you tried upgrading to R5E50 which includes a much improved version of MythTV?
