Hi

New to this forum so i thought my first post might as well be me saying hi..

and now i might as well ask my first question aswell :)

When i run KnoppMyth in frontend mode, The frontend is never able to contact my backend server which is strange as i am able to get my other computer to hop on although the computer is not running knoppmyth (The machine is running Gentoo Linux) i am able to connect to the backend mythbox, so i am at a lose to what is causing the inability for knoppmyth to connect to my mythbackend on another computer.

Summary:

The backend Machine is a "Gentoo Linux" running as a seperate MythTv box so it has no front end so to speack.

I have had a another computer connect to the Mythtv Backend it was another "Gentoo Linux" machine [Note: that this machine was a seprate computer and was not running on the same machine as the Mythtv Backend]

I was kinda thinking mabe theres a version diffrents between the MythTv i have installed on my Backend Machine and the gentoo used in knoppmyth

Any way thanks for reading any questions that could help you answer my question i will happierly answer.

After doing some more research on google i came across this link

What seemed to be the problem was knoppmyth uses Mysql 4.0.* and the server i was using was 4.1.* so the problem lied with hashing scheme in Mysql so if any one else finds them selfs in this problem just follow those instructions and you should be fine

I'm having a similar problem between a release C server and D front end. I think it might be because the server runs mySQL 3 and the front end seems to have mySQL 4, but it doesn't make sense that a client thats of a higher version wouldn't understand an older server
