It seems by earlier post got borked by phpbb, so I'll repost in hopes that this helps someone. Mods, please delete the previous post.

The R5E50 install went great for me, except for one thing, my remotes quit working. I was able to fix this as follows:

1. It's good karma to run the lirc-reconfig.sh

2. Change DEVICE="/dev/lirc" to DEVICE="/dev/lirc0" in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf

3. Make a copy of /etc/lirc/lircd.conf in /etc/lircd.conf. I don't know why it has to be in both places, it just does.

After a reboot, things be working. If not, check for any output from the irw command or from cat /dev/lirc0. This worked for me with the hauppauge A415-HPG silver remote that comes with the PVR-350 and with the steamzap USB remote on another system.

Documented in the Upgrade Hints posting. The "Known Changes" and "Known Issues" sections pretty much apply for all installs. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13108

There is supposed to be a symlink like this:
Code:
root@black2:~# ls -al /etc/lircd.conf /etc/lirc/lircd.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2357 Aug 11 21:08 /etc/lirc/lircd.conf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root   20 Dec 23 18:54 /etc/lircd.conf -> /etc/lirc/lircd.conf
