I know PIP does not work with XVMC.

I need XVMC for HD content. My 3.2 P4 does not keep up very well, while the nvidia card is very smooth with xvmc.

I have a PVR 500 and a pcHDTV 3000.

Is there any easy way to use XVMC for the HD content and maybe libmpeg+ PIP for the SD content using the two tuners?

Separate backends maybe? Define multiple "Live TV" options? I am guessing nothing is easy along these lines.

Also, does anyone have a clue when a new knoppmyth with .20 myth may be coming?

Thanks!

There's a database setting new to mythtv 0.20 you can add, UseXvMCForHDOnly, which will use Standard playback for SD. The next release of Knoppmyth with 0.20 will only be released "when it's ready." No one ever gets a more definite answer on releases. If you can't wait and you're not afraid of breaking things, there are other ways to install 0.20

Thanks for the useful response.

I assume there is an option buried in the frontend setup somewhere to change this, or do you have to do something crazy? Wait, found something here:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/XvMC#Use_XvMC_For_HD_Only

I also assume the correct code to update a R5D1 system to .20 is something along the lines of:

Code:
echo "deb ftp://knoppmyth.net/R5 ./"  >> /etc/apt/sources.list
apt-get update
dpkg -r libmyth-0.19 libmyth-0.19-dev mythtv mythtv-backend mythtv-common mythtv-database mythtv-debug mythtv-doc mythtv-frontend mythplugins mythburn-ui
rm -fr /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb
apt-get install mythtv mythplugins myththemes mythstream mythstreamtv
rm -fr /var/www/mythweb
ln -sf /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb /var/www

Is Cecil the only person working on knoppmyth? I have not seen a dev list or board.

Whilst there are people that do help Cecil with development and fixes, he is the sole "owner" of the project and does nearly all the work himself. And what a fine job he does too. :D
