Xmame for the time being has pretty much ceased development. However, SDLMame seems to be keeping current with the latest windows mame version, so I'm thinking it is a good time to switch to it as I tend to keep my Romset up to date on a regular basis. I'm getting ready for a new upgrade of my mythbox to the latest knoppmyth and I'd like to use that opportunity to possibly switch to using SDLmame. I'm not a fan of reinventing the wheel so I'd like to know if anyone else has done this, and if so, are there any packages that have to be gotten through apt first? Also, are there any plans to integrate SDLMame into future knoppmyth releases to replace the stalled xmame? Homepage for SDLMame http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/?page_id=163 |

At the moment, XMAME .106 is in unstable. There are no plans to replace XMAME with SDLMAME for the next release. |

Just installed SDLMame myself and though it's prettier than xmame the software render is faster than the OpenGL and it seems to have some sound issues that xmame doesn't, but that prob just my config |
