I want to display sports data, especially fantasy football stats, on the TV screen. I've looked into how to use Myth TV to accomplish this and so far mythtvosd looks promsing. ( I have another idea which I'll put in a different thread ) I can successfully call a scrolling message with mythtvosd. This works but the there are a few things I would like to change to make it ideal.

1. The sports data is continuous. New things always happen. But when a new message is sent to mythtvosd it erases whatever is currently scrolling and starts scrolling the new message. So a previous message may only be half seen or not seen at all. Ideally I would like it to look more like ESPN bottomline, where instead of scrolling from right to left, fixed chunks of data about 40 characters long scroll up from the bottom and get replaced by a new message every 5 seconds.

2. The placement on the screen is a bit confusing if you are watching ESPN or Fox Sports. Because they have their own tickers which tend to appear just slightly above the mythtvosd scroller. It makes it a bit hard to read. Ideally I would like to move it up a bit or make it taller. And also make it non transparent so the other ticker didn't show through in the background.

To do these two things, I assume I need to learn how to program in C and change how these features work. Is that correct?
I've looked at the main.cpp but realize that what I need to change is not in there. That code is just the main interface to the more detailed modules. I guess I need to download the complete mythtv source and track it down.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.
