Upgraded from R5C7
7NIf2 board

Followed suggested tips IE: did backup downloaded and ran check_backup.sh

Deleted cards (not there anyway) remade cards set up inputs.

Challenges to be solved

1: Restore did not work fully, seemed to restore a lot but errored on the db restore.
message was error on line 1 wrong version (thought r5c7 was the same) or something to that effect.

How can I restore/convert this manually so my recording stuff is set up and I have access to the recorded shows

2:
2Xpvr250 cards
card one uses composite input and displays in black and white
card two uses tuner input and seems fine

Any idea on the black and white. (Strangely on the first attempt at upgrade color was not a problem, not sure what changed)

Output is not good but have not moved over anything from my old XF86Config-4 file.
*edit* after moving my modelines over output is still poor horizontal banding, very coarse picture. Text is quite jagged in the menu's
3:
I have just found that i cannot set any recordings. When I try on mythweb it seems ok but says that the show is set to never record. If I do it through the tv interface; again it seems to go through but shows no upcoming recordings. Every show has this showing
MythTV Status:
(Never Record)

How do I remove this flag?

*edit* *Solved*

I had the ip's in my general setup incorrect, one was the actual ip the other was 127.0.0.1

Any ideas on this one.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Craig

Continuing the conversation with myself :)

Still no luck on restoring the D/B would love some help on this.

Getting color from the svideo input so I am happy with that

I have played around and the picture is better still not as good as what I had in R5C7 I will start another thread just for this and post my config file and more details

Cannot get another frontend to connect has any one noticed that the my.cnf file does not have a skip networking option to comment out.

It now seems to use a "bind-address" option
It was set to "=127.0.0.1" so I changed it to 192.168.0.0 figuring this would give the whole subnet access. My backend is using It's real IP address in the general setup screen (192.168.0.2, both lines)

I will work on this more and perhaps start a thread on it.

on the positive irblaster worked great!

Any suggestions appreciated keep them coming :)

Craig

I believe you just comment out the bind-address line to allow remote frontends to connect.

Your bind address on your MBE needs to be the ethernet IP address of your Master Back End (itself) . If your subnet is 192.168.1.0 and your MBE is 192.168.1.10 then your MBE bind address needs to be 192.168.1.10.

Your bind address on your slave back ends needs to point to you MBE as well. the entry would be the same bind = 192.168.1.10.

This should get you rolling.

Commenting it out seems to have worked. Thanks Greg I should have tried that myself, it is amazing I can dress myself without help.

Can you run the restore manually and capture the output? It's hard to help without the details... We tested the backup and restore stuff pretty heavily, so it's got to be something fairly odd. (Note that this is potentially destructive if you've been making recordings since then.) I'd also like to see the results of these commands:
Code:
ls -l /myth/backup
cat /myth/backup/backup.list
cat /myth/backup/restore.list

Okay

I tried a manual restore and it went without a hitch not sure why.

In the end I decided to do a manual install and just start fresh. I will just rename recordings I want to keep and put them into the video directory.

I came back after a week to find absolutely no new recordings! :(

Guess my happiness over the fixes I did see when upgrading, which apparently went very well from an R5 alpha* version, was a bit premature.

This worked for my upgrade as well! Thanks for the fix. Looks like my upcoming recordings exist again. :)

* more specifically R5A(x), I forget which (x) it was. Probably best not to call that "alpha" considering the current release designation scheme?
