Well I have been playing with this for months and I can't seem to find the right combination of settings to display HD properly for my HDTV. Here is what I have, pioneer sd533, does 480p/1080i native can't take 720p (has components and vga input for HD), MSI nvidia 6150 motherboard, with an AM2 AMD 3500+.

Here are my issues, when setting the playback to interlace (to match my display input) i get bad combing effect when watching a chanel that is sending 1080i, I don't see this when connecting to a commercial stb set to 1080i output. When change my settings to deinterlace things look better, but when changing channels to a 720p station I "sometimes" not always will get this slowmotion effect, video is not smooth, not stuttering but doesn't look normal, somnetimes this can be cleared by esc and then going back to watching Livetv. I don't have a CPU issue xvmc ~40-50%, non XVMC 60~70%. I have modlines that work and have tried both the vga and the component outputs, settings, different nvidia drivers, XVMC/no XVMC, distro's (knoppmyth works the best) all to no avial. Does any have a 6100/6150 combination that is working for interlaced or heck, one that works at all for 1080i HD and if so what are the various x/myth settings that you use to achieve the results. If anyone can help It would be greatly appreciated thanks.....

I recently setup a new front end for the bedroom and wanted to keep the cost low so I used a JetWay J754GT3-PTD Motherboard with a 6100 chipset. The TV is a 42" awia rear-projection CRT. I'm using the tv component video in (only hd input it has). I'm currently running it @ 480P and can play back HD without issues. TV doesn’t support 720P and I did try 1080i but got black screens when playing video. Since it is only a 42" and probable can't truly resolve 1080i I haven't put much effort into the 1080i.

All this said the 480P is working great and give a nice sharp picture watching HD. Not sure if you tried it yet but might want to give it a try and see how it looks.

Heres the details
Awia 42" RP CRT
Componet Video input
JetWay J754GT3-PTD Socket 754 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Mother board
Sempron 2800+
512 MB memory
40 GB Hard Drive

Myth Settings
XVMC
Deinterlace Bob

XF86Config-4 settings
# sw_cursor is needed for some ati and radeon cards
#Option "sw_cursor"
#Option "hw_cursor"
#Option "NoAccel"
#Option "ShowCache"
#Option "ShadowFB"
#Option "UseFBDev"
#Option "Rotate"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "TV"
Option "TVStandard" "HD480p"
Identifier "Card0"

If you want to try different HD resolutions change the HD480P to HD1080i or 720P

If you use Connected monitor TV you will nee to use component cables

Let me know if you need any other info

Thanks for the reply, I want to run at 1080i...and I can get it mostly there but just have these nagging issues. What I really don't understand is when I turn off deinterlace I have interlace artifacts like it's not really doing interlace properly, not to mention the issues I see when watching some 720p stations. I just think I don't have the right combinations selected in all of the various places....
