R5E50 was the best knoppmyth install for me yet, with one exception. It broke use of remotes. I have a A415-HPG silver remote with my PVR-350 tuner system, and a USB streamzap with another, and neither one worked on initial install, despite correct configuration.

I was able to get them to work by:

1. Changing DEVICE="/dev/lirc" to DEVICE="/dev/lirc0" in the file /etc/lirc/hardware.conf as mentioned elsewhere in the forum.

2. Placing a copy of the file /etc/lirc/lircd.conf in /etc/lircd.conf. It needs to be in both places. Not sure why.

At first I thought there might be an issue with the lircd.conf files not matching the versions out on [url]http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/
[/url] but that doesn't seem to matter.

By doing this I was able to get both the A415-HPG (PVR-350) and streamzap remotes to work.
