Following some posts on the forum, I was able to get Mythburn to work by running in "headless" mode. Unfortunately, the DVD menus don't work. If I press the Play button on my set top DVD player, the first recording on the DVD will play, but manually selecting from the DVD menu does nothing, and in software DVD players (such as xine or PowerDVD on XP) it simply exits the player program.
Below is the error I believe is causing the problem:
Code: 80731 92264 Chapter list for this recording - should be 9 entries... 00:00:00.00,00:06:24.24,00:12:49.19,00:19:14.13,00:25:39.08,00:32:04.02,00:38:2$ finished createscenemenu.sh ****************************************************** ----- datestamp=04-06-2006 22:50 ----- datestamp=04-06-2006 22:50 cat: /myth/mythburn/temp/tempdvdauthor2.xml_1menu: No such file or directory Encoding menu images to MPEG2 files ----- datestamp=04-06-2006 22:50
Anybody have any ideas about how to fix so DVD menus work properly?
This problem was already mentioned in post http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10219, but with a title that might cause it to be overlooked, so I'm reposting the problem here in hopes that someone more knowledgeable of scripting might be able to provide a solution.

I am having the same problem. Is the error you posted from mythburn.log or somewhere else? I would be happy to look at my logs to see if I can find a similar problem.
The only similarity in our setup is the Hauppage 250.

Yes, the errror I posted is from the mythburn.log, and I'm not even cetain that's the exact problem, it just seems to be the likely cause.

I've noticed this too, and seen a few posts on it. My guess is no one is getting anywhere that is looking at it. I wanted to take a look at it on my otherwise working perfectly mythtv box, but its currently not on my network.

I have seen the same menu issues on multipe machines. Here are some of the specs, maybe we can find a common element.
System 1
R5B7+ (test release), PIII 500, 256MB RAM, PVR-150, GeForce AGP card. Burning to .ISO, worked at one time, but menus stopped working correctly at an unknown point. I did a lot of changes, some of things that I recall: setting up myth2ipod, compiling ffmpeg w/ mp3lame support, X11vnc setup, mystreamtv setup (Mplayer, XviD, and extra codecs), apt-get install libxosd2 & libxosd-dev, installing xyac.
System 2
R5B7+ (test release), PIII 966, 512MB RAM, PVR-150, GeForce PCI card. Burning to .ISO, works but menus never worked correctly I did a lot of changes, some of things that I recall: setting up, X11vnc setup, mystreamtv setup (Mplayer, XviD, and extra codecs), apt-get install libxosd2 & libxosd-dev, installing xyac.
System 3
R5C7 VMware Virtual Machine, 256MBRAM.
Using recordings from a PVR-150 to test.
Burning to .ISO, works but menus never worked correctly. This machine is clean I didn't install anything extra.

I'm running an Athlon 64 3000+, PVR-350, 1 GB Ram, GeForce PCI card. With a mostly out of the box KnoppMyth R5C7, aside from xmacro and some necessary DVD playback software being installed. DVD Burner is a LG dual layer - something (not sure offhand). Burning to iso appears to work, but the videos aren't linked right in the menu, and there's no way (that I can find) to play anything but the first episode that was burned (burnt?).

Is everyone else with this problem getting the
Code: cat: /myth/mythburn/temp/tempdvdauthor2.xml_1menu: No such file or directory
error in mythburn.log?
Also... is there anyone who's not having this problem in R5C7?

OK ... I have been reading about this problem for a while now and believe I have the fix.
The problem: Chapter menus do NOT work and you get an error message in the mythburn log that reads something like:
Code: cat: /myth/mythburn/temp/tempdvdauthor2.xml_1menu: No such file or directory
After a little debugging, it comes down to this ... mythtvburn.sh (the main script which in my case is in /myth/mythburn) calls the script createscenemenu.sh (which is in /myth/mythburn/scripts). It calls it with the arguments in the WRONG ORDER. The result is that one of the arguments, named 'submenus' in the script is the wrong value, so createscenemenu.sh thinks it is NOT supposed to create chapter menus. The fix for my version (which was the one that came with R5C7) was to edit mythtvburn.sh. Around line 539 you should see the line: Code: ${scripts}/createscenemenu.sh $myfolder $videonumber $page $totalframes $file $myxml $framerate $pageresolution $highlightimage $submenus ${cutflags[$idx]} $aspectRatio (this is actually one looooooooong line ... not two as above  ) The problem is the $aspectRatio should be passed just after $pageresolution, not at the end of the list. Soooo... this line SHOULD look like this: Code: ${scripts}/createscenemenu.sh $myfolder $videonumber $page $totalframes $file $myxml $framerate $pageresolution $aspectRatio $highlightimage $submenus ${cutflags[$idx]}
This is the change I made and it worked for me. Good Luck!!
P.S. I am now trying to work on why the main menu does not take me to either the movie or the chapter menu when I work on it. Actually, this DOES work in one of my CD players, but not in the other. The xml file sent to dvdauthor is somewhat complex and I am trying to simplify it to make it a little dumber, but more reliable. I'll let you all know here if it works.

Thanks Phlpittsny, That worked for me overall.
System 1 menus now work and play the DVD. Thumbnails are not being generated, could be something I messed up from other programs I installed, I suspect myth2ipod.
System 2 Working perfect
System 3 Working perfect
